Purchase of Modern and Contemporary Art and Design

We believe that art enriches life; it reflects society and, at least for us, offers surprising perspectives. Design and applied arts explore new forms and ideas, often with a practical function. In our gallery, we focus on the context and story behind each piece, aiming to contribute to a deeper understanding of the meaning and beauty of art.

Our Background and Expertise
Years of experience in the art trade

Since the early 21st century, we have been active in trading art and applied design. In South Limburg, we have operated several stores. Our first shop in Heerlen offered a broad collection: from figurative paintings to glass art and ceramic art. Over time, we specialized further, ultimately focusing on modern art—continuously improving our expertise in this field.

Focus on Modern and Contemporary Art
During the planning phase for our current gallery, we initially concentrated on geometric-abstract art, figurative art inspired by the Cobra movement, and Art Informel. Soon, we expanded our focus to contemporary art. When building our collection, we consider:

  • The artist’s position in the art market
  • Museums that include the artist’s work in their collections
  • And most importantly: whether the artwork resonates with us

How We Purchase Art
Personal and transparent

We buy as much as possible directly from collectors. Whether it’s an heirloom, a design classic, or a unique artwork, we take the time to hear your story, verify documentation, and offer a fair market price.

How We Determine Our Offer

  • Recent auction prices (if available)
  • The quality of the artwork
  • An estimate of the size and location of the market for the piece

We always explain clearly how our offer is calculated. Want to sell art to us? Call us for an appointment or send an email with as much information as possible (photos and descriptions).

Advantages Over Auction Houses
Owners may choose to sell privately rather than at auction. Auctions often take time and offer less control. Moreover, auction houses focus on large volumes, leaving less attention for specialized markets. An auction may also occur during a period when the market for a particular artist is weak, negatively affecting value.
